Weekend Shuffle

March 10th, 2007

So, today I head into Imabari in about an hour and dance with the kiddies. I’ll be wearing my new iPod shuffle, which I purchased the day before yesterday. I walked 8 miles to get it – and that is not a lie – it’s really accurate. 8.421 miles to be exact. I figured it out with a Googlemaps Pedometer Mashup that calculates distance using one of Google’s APIs. Slick. Anyhoo – today is my test run. Yay!

In other news, Nicole has a great video link at her blog. For anyone wanting to see a humorous take on all of the teaching styles out there (made by the Coca-Cola Company for their Fanta line, no less), visit Nicole’s blog and hit the link. It’s worth it. I should, however, mention that it will never beat my favorite ridiculous Japanese commercial.

If you’re familiar with “Paper, Rock, Scissors” or “Rock, Paper, Scissors” in Japanese, then you’ll get it. The joke is that “scissors” (choki) becomes “choco” (chocolate), the “paper” (pa) becomes “party,” and the “rock” (gu) becomes “good.” Here’s a very lazy commercial from a long while back: Choco. Party. Good, good.

Anyhoo – I’ll catch you guys later. Gotta go get my groove on. Wish me luck.

  • Ha ha - I live on an island. I have to take a 45 minute ferry to Imabari, and then walk about 2 miles to the nearest mall / theater / etc. (Same for the shuffle, but a longer distance. Took forever.)

Bonnie - I did have an iPod, but it broke a long time ago. I just wanted something tiny. I'll buy a real one when they upgrade to the new generation. Should happen soon. Then I'll get a real one if I feel like blowing the cash. But I might rather take a trip...we shall see.

Either way it's good for me. Gotta drop the flab, folks. Gotta. It's killing me. Also - I'm surprised that this entry drew the comments and not the video one. Ha ha. :-) Anyhoo - the result of my test run was a perfect score. Love the thing. Adam and I danced like maniacs with help from a ton of Imabari folks, so I am wiped out. Think I'll eat something and conk out. Thanks for the comments!

ummmm...didn't you already have an iPod? I know you did...why did you buy another one? and a shuffle? It carries like nothing. Also...8 MILES!? Deas...that is what the internet and shipping costs are for LOL.
  • You walked 8 miles. For an iPod shuffle...

I will never complain about the distance of anything ever again. Now that 2.5 km to the nearest mall/Jusco/theater/Uni Qlo doesn't seem so far anymore.
