Seoul Video Extravaganza

April 29th, 2007

Ok – “extravaganza” may be going a bit far, but here are 5 videos from the trip to Seoul that I’ve been talking about getting up for weeks on end. I’ll likely make an impressions video later, but these are separated into rough themes and their soundtracks are unaltered.

This clip is obviously the changing of the guards at Deoksung. It was cool. We watched it 2 and a half times, though. From multiple angles. I don’t think that was particularly necessary, but that’s beside the point. You can see what we saw.

This clip reminds me of that toy from the 80s – the Ribbon Dancer. These guys had the really cool hats, though. That’s an easy 1-up. Also, they did minor acrobatics. Again, this wins when pitted with sparkly pink toys from the 80s. Enjoy the dance. Watch for the little kid grooving at the end.

This video combines footage of the amazing 2 person see-saw of doom act (in both normal and slow motion – for the trippy sound and whatnot), and the horseback stunts. You can hear for yourself how much catcalling was being done by the women to our left. Ha ha.

This video is a compilation of a very limited number of shots that I took while we were on the DMZ tour. In the middle, you can see a clip of us standing in North Korea. Well, inside the conference building surrounded by armed ROK guards, but still. Interesting, if brief.

This one is just kind of a catch all for the miscellany that didn’t fit in any of the other videos. It includes my confusion at different methods of romanizing Korean words on a bus ticket, the ridiculously cool karaoke place, some seafood oddities, a random concert we stumbled into outside of Doota!, and the giant dipping fountain. Enjoy.

For those of you who missed the loads of updates, visit Jon’s official compendium of everything you ever wanted to know about the Seoul trip (and most of the stuff you didn’t want to know about). He compiled links to all of our blogs’ posts about the trip. Thank you, Jon! Toodles for now, folks.

Loved the videos- nice to see what you were doing in Korea-
So very glad I didn't know you actually went into North Korea. You continue to amaze me, my son! Email me sometime! Miss hearing from you. Love, Mom

ありがとう! なつかしいですした。 I don't even remember you taping all of that.
  • I have no idea. Reminded me of a girl I once knew, though. I kid, I kid! Sheesh. They seriously were disgusting. I didn't try them, though. Or maybe I did and I didn't know it. I can't help but believe that I'm better off that way. Ha ha. :-)

I have to say...that one seafood "oddity" looked positively disgusting...underwater bratwursts?? Seriously, what were they? Ew.
  • Well, they're ok. Took me long enough to get them up, though. Sorry about that. :-)
  • Awesome videos! I didn't realize you were taking so many videos throughout the trip. Nice job of putting everything together. I'll have this entry added to my collection.
