Hi Deas! I finally got an answer out of Ken about future J-blog Matsuri! (see the link on my name) Also RisingSunOfNihon has invited me to do a month-long guest blogging series. TofuUnion – I’ve been trying to learn kanji, but you’re absolutely correct – it is time consuming. However, I know it’s not impossible, because so many people have succeeded, so I’ll persevere. I started out by reading the first Harry Potter book in Japanese, because I’d read it in English and vaguely remembered the plot and because it had furigana for everything. I’m working my way up.

Deas, you know non-native speaker sometimes ‘create’ artificial compound which doesn’t exist. And until you find it doesn’t fit in natural way of saying, you never know. That’s my problems, too. However, regarding reading English, I don’t have much problems. As for Japanese Language, it should be time-consuming for Westerners to master reading Kanji, I understand how tough it is. But all the works pay off if you will be able to read newspapers or novels.

By the way, I think “C’est la vie”(It’s the life) is Kore ga jinsei da(これが人生だ) or shikata ga nai(仕方がない) may be the same as “You can’t help”. I keep posting.

TofuUnion, thanks for visiting! Your compliments are very kind. I am still a student of Japanese, obviously, and therefore my grammar and diction tend to be quite 不自然 at times, so I completely understand. Great advice. By the way, if you see something strange in my Japanese, please correct it! I’m always trying to get better.
