Japanerican Sitdrama

I posted 2 interesting video clips at Japan Probe today. They’re Japanese parodies of American dramas / sitcoms like Beverly Hills 90210. Luke Perry’s “Dylan McKay” character is present, being performed by the comedian Nadagi. (His real-life girlfriend Tomochika, who happens to be from Ehime – Matsuyama to be exact – plays opposite him as his fake girlfriend Catherine.) I learned about this from my buddy at the Mexipan restaurant. She screened the YouTube videos for me as I ingested that amazing pumpkin taco the other day. Mmmm. Anyway, check it out. (You can post comments here too, though.)

  • Ok, I will try to use it on your blog soon. ;-)
  • そうです。
    「食う」はくだけた男性の話し言葉ですよね。
    「食いつく」は、ここ数年の俗語で、ある話題に興味を示す時に使います。カジュアルな話し言葉や、ブログのコメント欄で見かけます。
    You are right.
“Kuu” is a casual spoken word for men, as you know.
“Kuitsuku” is a slang in recent years and used when you are interested in some topic. You hear it in the casual conversation or see in the comment sections of a blog.
  • oh, well, I have mine set to no theme, so it adopts the native CSS or whatever, but I would like more control over the shape
  • Ha ha - I would, but I've got a theme compatibility problem with some sidebar things. I'm working on upgrading it, but it's probably gotta wait until after Kobe. :-)
  • that was supposed to say "google feed" but good feed aint off the mark...
  • that's why I publish a good feed of shared items from my reader; I always share my articles that I do for the probe, and don't have to hassle with posting again. Ah convienience...
  • Dylan...or should I say EMILY...you shouldn't insult your own hair. The look was in back then. So...yeah.

「食いついたっ!」というのは? 「食う」という動詞がわかると思います。何か男らしくラッフな感じがする「食べる」と同じく使えますね。あぁ、わかったかもしれません。「食いつく」という動詞何です。なるほど。"I bit!" or "I nibbled!" or something like that, I guess. 教えて下さい! :-)
  • Dylan Mckay
    Yeeeeeeeeeeah. Nice hair.

    no. really. I mean it.
  • 食いついたっ!
Oh, my native tongue. I completely understood this one and I laughed a lot.
