FYI - SPOILERS BELOW.

The finale WAS weak, and it was very sad. What did they mean by letting Sylar get away. Seriously. *sighs* Yes, I know that they want to have the threat of him as a 'villian' in the next season, or whatever, but he really should have died.

The thing that I found most intriguing about the show was the time travel aspect of it. Future Hiro went back in time to 'fix' the future that had gone wrong, and we already saw some results of the changes he made when Claire didn't die and Sylar didn't become invincible.

I think the connections you made to the X-men movies are interesting, but I would be more curious to see the comparison to the X-men comics like Alex mentioned. I've not read them, but the movies can only capture so much of what the comic books held. It's like trying to judge the quality of the Harry Potter books by the quality (or lack thereof, in some cases) of the movies. *shrugs*

I think Heroes was a very interesting way to explore the idea of beings with super-human powers. I can't wait to see the next season.

re: X-Men 3 - Was that movie not COMPLETELY lame, especially in what happened to Magneto? I mean, parts of it were funny, but the 'cure' was just so tragic. I really didn't care for it in the end.

Alex - I completely agree with you. The finale was weak.

Scott - I'm not saying that any of these things are bad so far as copying goes, just thought it was interesting. :-) And just so you know, the last 2 X-Men films weren't as watchable as the first. But that's my opinion.

That's interesting. Being the one science fiction fan who's apparently living under a rock and haven't seen any of the X-Men (I really need to remedy that!), I didn't pick up on those parallels.

I'm looking forward to next season though... should be interesting.

When I had only heard the premise I thought it was a major X-Men rip off (not even thinking about the movies, but thinking further back to my childhood reading X-Men comics and watching the cartoon on Saturday mornings). I refused to watch it for a very long time, but I finally gave in and watched it with my wife, and we were both pleasantly surprised.

The season finale was weak, though.
