Man-Yi and Heads-up

Hey guys – click the above map for the full-size version. The typhoon called “Man-Yi” by just about everyone except Japan (which, in keeping with its elaborately creative naming system, called it Typhoon #4) came and went with no big fanfare. By the time it worked its way up into the inland sea it was greatly weakened. Basically, it was all wind with intermittent rain. In any event, I loved it. I like big storms. I hunkered down here and watched it. (After going to the ATM and store since I figured they’d be closed today – which is Marine Day. So, um, Happy Marine Day or something.) Anyway, here’s a quick video clip of Typhoon #4’s visit on Saturday. Weak, sadly. Left the wind buffeting sound in, because I felt like it. :-P

I also want to note that I am off on a secret mission until Thursday. If you are one of the few people who know what mischief I’m up to, please remain quiet about it until I am back. Ok? Thanks! See you on Thursday. :-)

  • Alex - I only wish I'd thought of a ninja mission at the creamelon lab. Great idea. I'm stowing it away for a rainy day.

Chuck - ha ha ha ha ha.

Mom - you are correct. I live nowhere near where the quakes happened, but I sure feel loved. I got loads of emails about it. I shall reply to them tomorrow. (And this was not actually that close to Tokyo.)
  • Mom
I like the wind sounds...gives you more of the feel of the storm. So I'm glad it wasn't a big deal. Now I've checked the best maps I can find , and I assume you did not feel the big earthquake too much. But people are asking me, so say something as soon as you can. And let me know how your former host family fared, since this was near Tokyo. Can't wait to hear about the secret mission... surf ninjas?? Nah...
  • If you are, in fact, going to Ninja Camp, I'm going to be irked that you didn't invite me to join.
  • Secret missions, hey? ...

    Ninja training camp?!

    The Creamelon development lab?!

    Finding Neverland starring Johnny Depp?!
  • I like watching the politically correct folks attempt to craft a perfectly unoffensive list of equally representative ethnic names. It makes me giggle. (How is it that some ethnicities feel annoyed when they're not used for hurricane naming but others are annoyed for being used as a mascot?) I guess they wouldn't run out of numbers, though - you're right. :-) And the secret mission, well, is a secret. Until you read about it here. ;-)
  • Scott
Excellent! Maybe the US won't run out of names for hurricanes if they take up Japan's oh so creative naming scheme. Hehe.

Secret mission? *eyebrow raised* What craziness are you up to, Deas? :-P
