Nicole - you know me too well. Although I think it's funny to make typos when making fun of some poor girl's complete and utter failure to sound intelligent. :-P Don't sweat it, I know you're cool. And just so you know, if you were from SC, you'd be happy about that too. It isn't NYC, but it has its perks. But I agree - they should have just handed her a map and said "point out the United States, Iraq, and South Africa." If she couldn't, I'd call that case closed.

Greg - I know. It was pretty horrendous, huh. I can't figure out where her weird accent comes from either. It's kind of faux-valley, isn't it? The "uh" on the end of her words? Like a strange, vapid, female xerox of the bad Mario accent? It's-a like-a me-a, Miss-a like-a Teen-a South-a Carolina-a, such-a as-a and-a so-a. Yikes. It's like the sign that I had in my old bedroom - written in stamped gold foil in Olde English font, the wry admonition:

"Be sure brain is engaged before putting mouth into gear."

Sigh. At least some of us know that there are some really amazing girls in South Carolina. I remember them. I grew up with a weird complex thanks to the girls I had crushes on who beat me into the cement academically. But, it sort of figures that their interests wouldn't lie with beauty pageants, eh? Ha ha.

It is my personal belief that such questions, such as the aforementioned ones, uh, should not be presented, such as they are, to, uh, contestants. In place of such questions, it is my personal belief that they should have simply asked the dingbat to point to the US on one of these maps that a fifth of us Americans aren't privy to. Bonus points if she can located South Carolina.

Beauty AND brains?! THESE PEOPLE ASK TO MUCH.
