I like how they started with the original theme song in Japanese and then mixed, what French, Spanish, other? in with it. My thought was that it was simply a different prototype. (That Ian guy threw the Japanese Alvin onto the table, remember?) Most of the people who will see this movie in the States probably wouldn't be able to distinguish between the two languages anyway (especially since the vowels are exactly the same in each language, and the accents are bad to begin with). If it was the difference between German and Spanish, then maybe it would have worked.
