5 X 5 Things About Deas

November 10th, 2008

I got meme-tagged by Danielle at Narrative Disorder. So here’s my post. :-) I’m working on some posts to recap a few trips I took - but my video program is…throwing a fit. In the meantime… (Read on)

5 Things I Was Doing 10 Years Ago

1. Entering high school at the Charleston County School of the Arts as a visual arts major.

2. Getting my learner’s permit before starting driver’s education courses.

3. Getting dragged to see Titanic waaaaay too many times.

4. Still using Yahoo! as my primary search engine and doing research in a library.

5. Eating people alive on the Nintendo 64 game Goldeneye 007. Oddjob.

5 Things on My To-Do List Today

1. Finish grading papers. (Holy crap! I AM my mother!) :-P

2. Update my Time Machine backups.

3. Make a bank transfer to cover a netbook I just purchased stateside.

4. Affix Christmas cards my students made to my wall.

5. Sleep early - gotta be at school in the city really early tomorrow for a model class!

5 Snacks I Like

1. Sesame sticks.

2. Sourdough pretzels. (Especially with ice cream.)

3. Coffee and a danish.

4. Popcorn.

5. Steel rolled oats. (I am a weirdo…but they’re good. Yes. Raw. Cooked is good too, though.)

5 Things I Would Do if I Were a (Multi)Millionaire

1. Pay off all of my immediate family’s debts - loans, mortgages, etc.

2. Donate to my church, my university, and a few charities.

3. Throw as much of it in the bank as possible to build interest. (Shut up! It’s responsible!)

4. Invest in privatized, manned spaceflight and exploration.

5. Soooo much travel left to do…might as well be rich while doing it!

5 Places I’ve Lived (for various lengths of time)

1. Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina (USA) - where I grew up, increasing in awesomeness each day.

2. Greenville, South Carolina (USA) - where I went to college at Furman University.

3. Charleston, South Carolina (USA) - lived with my aunt and uncle while my parents where hospitalized after a big car accident.

4. Tokyo, Tokyo (Japan) - where I went to school at Waseda University for a year.

5. Imabari, Ehime (Japan) - where I’ve lived and taught ESL for 2+ years.

5 Jobs I Have Had

1. House painter.

2. Carpet / tile flooring delivery guy.

3. Flower shop assistant / delivery guy.

4. ILL facilitator. (ILL = Inter-Library Loans; means I mailed and received books.)

5. Technology pseudo-manager for Office Depot. (Hired and payed as a register worker, quit when I realized the difference between the job I was actually doing and the pay level for that job. Long story.)

5 People I Tag (with appropriate apologies):

1. Claytonian, the Hopeless Romantic.

2. Alex of Victory Manual fame.

3. Koichi from Tofugu or Koichiben or even Boxed Tofu.

4. Tori at the Daily J. (Still alive and kickin’?)

5. Tom from Journeyman Left Back.

No fair Deas. There was always an unspoken ban on Oddjob. You could never hit that pipsqueak!

Ooh, which did you end up getting? I'm still researching mine (I'd say "considering whether I'm getting one" but the hubby says he knows "that look in my eye" so why pretend LOL).

  • Tom - I do concede the point about Oddjob. But if more than one person wanted to play as him, we decided it by deathmatch. If I won, I became even deadlier...mwa ha ha ha ha...

    Clay - dooooo it!

Danielle - I went with the Asus Eee PC 1000HA after much consideration. Now I just wish it would get here. :-) Le sigh.

Mom - actually, it was a tongue-sticking-out face...ha ha ha.

Nic - I'M CALM! WHY DON'T YOU THINK I'M CALM!?!?

Koichi - anytime, man! Didn't know which blog was most appropriate for the tag, so I hit them all. :-) (Except one which I've forgotten the name off. But it was a dot com, and had a Japanese term romanized for the title....like that helps...)
  • Hi Deas! Thanks for the tag.
