Philippines Video

January 15th, 2009

(Bigger version!)

It’s here! The last Philippines entry. I promise! :-) Breathe a sigh of relief. Ha ha. I just wanted to break my bad habit about doing stuff and postponing actually posting about it for ages. I think I successfully did. This clip is enormous. It’s easily the longest blog-related video I’ve uploaded. It’s almost as long as my old student project, Beautiful Stranger, which came in at 15 minutes and 33 seconds. This one is 14 minutes and 6 seconds long – but that covers clips from 2 weeks of vacation! And when you consider that I culled it from about 35 minutes of footage total, all taken on my digital camera, it’s pretty concise. Ha ha. Fair warning! If you’re freaked out about the death of farm animals, skip from the 30 second mark to the 50 second mark – you don’t see anything, but you hear a pig squeal for a second, and then see it being roasted on the spit. No biggie. Highlights include Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer (the song, not the actual magical reindeer) on banjo and guitar at 2:20, tarsiers at 10:57, and the flamboyant transvestite python attendant explaining about Prony’s diet which consists solely of virgin / white pigs and also about the snakeskin bra and panty set at 11:16. In other words, the video is roughly chronological, but will still seem disjointed. Enjoy!

I love it! It took me a few seconds to recognize Rudolph (the song)..I'll have to get you to explain to me again about the Christmas present distribution by number. Whose kids are they? Anyway, glad you and Kathy had fun. Please tell her she looks great in the clips. And of course, so do you!

it's like i was right there with you guys!

that transvestite python attendant is something else entirely. wow.

And I know you warned us, but I couldn't help but squeal and shy away from the camera as you watched that piggie being turned around and around :/ may lay off any pork related items for a while.

glad you had a fantastic time!!

  • Steven - welcome to the blog and thanks for the comment. I'm glad you liked the video. (I'm honestly shocked that more than one person actually watched it! Ha ha.) :-)

Nice video! It looks like you really captured the "fuinki" (I know) of the trip! Loved the view at 09:19!
  • Eloisa - I'm glad you enjoyed the video! Ha ha. The lechon was amazing, and the halo-halo was mighty tasty, too. Definitely not what I imagined it would taste like - the ube ice cream was more powerful than I thought.

did you like lechon and halo halo? i see you've tried riding on the tricycle, pamboat and jeepney. i laughed while watching the transvestite talk about the python's diet because i can barely understand a word he said. ha ha ha.
