One More Time

January 29th, 2009

Hey everybody – sorry for the radio silence lately. I’m in the midst of my heavy visitation schedule, and it wreaks havoc with blog access / posting. Also, I turned in my recontracting paperwork yesterday. If my job is not secretly cut from the prefecture’s budget and everyone still agrees that I’m cool, I’ll be here for one more year. Yay! I’m currently planning an overseas trip in March, an attack plan for my college loans, a complete redesign of this blog, and how not to catch influenza during my visitations. (It’s a freakin’ epidemic here! Teachers beware!) Ha ha. Anyway, I should be back to my customary drivel shortly.

  • Nic - thanks.

Tom - I'm in the final sinus meltdown mode of your plague. What have you done to me, man? I thought we were friends!

Scott - probably...I have no idea how to answer that question. Ha ha ha. I'll likely try for a few more countries this year. Ha ha. You could come visit, if you want!
  • Scott
Congrats! :-D Yay one more year!

And overseas trip? Would that be to a crazy city to see some crazy people that live here? Or over other seas to other places?
  • Tom
    I do try my best.
  • Nic
Congrats on another year! I know you'll make the best out of it!

  • Tom - so it was you, was it? Now we know who to send the angry mob after. I kid, I kid. Luckily, I've avoided your plague so far. But seriously - there are 12 kids out with influenza today (and 7 unspecific absentees, to boot, for a total of 19 out) from a school of merely 132 students. (Hakata High School, that is.) That's like 1/7th of the school! Sheesh. At Imabari Minami the other day, I had a class of 28 students...where only 20 were present. Nearly 1/3rd of class! You're one potent foreign sicko, Tom. Hats off!

I have a theory that I started this flu epidemic in Japan. I went home at Christmas where we had our own epidemic going, got monstrously sick for about 3 weeks, came back here where everyone seemed to be doing OK, and a week or so later half of the prefecture seems to be on their deathbeds.

I'm fine now though, you'll be pleased and relieved to hear.

    Sorry Japan!
