Warner Bros Bearbricks

January 30th, 2009

Awww…it’s Batman and the Joker from The Dark Knight, Agent Smith from The Matrix, and V from V for Vendetta as BE@RBRICKs. What’s a bearbrick? It’s kind of like what you could expect if you did a genetic Punnet square using a Lego man and a teddy bear. Oh, and then you attach a cell phone strap to the head, so you can use it as a charm. Cute? Hmmm…

Apparently you can collect bearbricks from 12 different franchises. There are 2 collectible bearbrick characters for both The Dark Knight and Superman Returns. Then there are single bearbricks available for The Matrix, V for Vendetta, The O.C., 300, Enter the Dragon, A.I., Happy Feet, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I only got my hands on these 4 from buying lunches with a soft drink at the supermarket over the last few weeks. They’re attached to Pepsi products, it seems. I must admit to being a bit curious about how similar the Willy Wonka character might be to the Joker…ha ha ha…come on, admit it – there are a few similarities; panache, purple and green clothing, pale face, a creepy grin…

  • Lost - yeah, faces help.
  • The Star Wars ones weren't accessorized unfortunately. They just fit the whole BE@RBRICK thing better for some reason. Maybe because most of them have faces.
  • Lost - I would also have gone for it if they accessorized them. Were the Star Wars ones accessorized? If not, I imagine you could just find a Lego lightsaber and it'd work just as well...

Nic - 6 lashes with the cat-o-nine-tails. (Ok, or not. Ha ha.)

    whoops. i so did. apologies.

  • If they had just accessorized the things I'd be all over them - capes for Superman and Batman, a sword and shield for 300 guy, nunchucks (and a face) for Bruce Lee, etc, etc.

The Star Wars ones work better I think.
  • Nic - I think you read the entry wrong...ha ha. ;-)

Lost - thanks for the link to the full set. Can't believe how boring they went for Wonka. Way to screw up a good opportunity. (I couldn't care less about the OC though.) Looks like I got most of the good ones, huh? The 300 one and maybe the regular Superman one would have been nice, too. The others are too minimalist for me or carry no curiosity.
  • The OC one is just a faceless orange Bear..er..BE@RBRICK. The Willy Wonka one is gold, like the ticket I guess.
I have the Batman and 300 BE@RBRICKs waiting in the wings for when my Boba Fett one falls apart.
The whole set is here (scroll down):

Those come with soft drinks?! Which ones? I thought Bearbricks were normally quite expensive. I must stock up. Enter the Dragon sounds good, although I can't imagine the The OC ones are going to be particularly memorable.
